About
Wickström is one of Sweden’s most established artists, active since the late 1980s. In his painting, poetry and realism meet. With a skill developed over many years, he captures the moment when time seems to stand still.
The landscape is a constant presence in Wickström’s motifs, this time more as a backdrop than as foreground. Inspiration is drawn intuitively from film, theater, photography, and the press’s visual flow, from which Wickström finds fragments that he captures, transforms, and references. Wickström’s celebrated superrealism, often with glimpses of a bygone Swedish folkhem, remains in OSLO, but the poetic reflections are now enriched with a new thematic focus.
The exhibition moves between the concrete and the suggested, where the images do not provide definitive answers but invite the viewer into a quiet drama—a state of being rather than a narrative.
